01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Greek immigrant Gus Andrews bought this building in 1918 and opened Andrews Bar and Restaurant. His grandson Tom Woolsey took it over around 1980, turned the old cafeteria into a sit-down restaurant and gave it the name it carries today. A die-hard hockey fan, Woolsey ran buses that ferried Red Wings fans to games from 1982 until the pandemic in 2020, at one point with eight buses. Today it's still homemade lunches and dinners from a long-serving crew in a true neighborhood-hangout setting.
