Afro Nation, the Afrobeats festival brand co-founded by Smade, brought its U.S. edition to Detroit in 2023 and returned on August 17–18, 2024 at Bedrock's Douglass Site, the former Brewster-Douglass site, with Afrobeats, amapiano, R&B and hip-hop acts. Organizers said Detroit, with its Motown and house heritage, had “welcomed us with open arms.” The festival was not held in Detroit in 2025.
