The Detroit story
Željko Rebrača's NBA rights passed through Seattle, Minnesota and Toronto before the Pistons acquired him in 2001. Over three seasons in Detroit he played backup center, posting his best numbers as a rookie with 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. In February 2004 the Pistons traded him, along with guard Bob Sura, to Atlanta as part of the deal that brought Rasheed Wallace to Detroit — a trade that helped the Pistons win the NBA championship that June, just months after Rebrača's departure.
