The Detroit story
Clyburn was born in Detroit and grew up in the nearby suburb of Romulus, where he attended Romulus Senior High School and earned a "Best Shooter" award as a senior. His college career took him through Marshalltown Community College, the University of Utah and Iowa State University before he turned professional in Europe rather than pursuing the NBA. Playing in Germany, Israel, Turkey and Russia over the following decade, he led the Israeli league in scoring in 2015–16 and was named Final Four MVP of the EuroLeague, Europe's top club competition, in 2019 while with CSKA Moscow.
