Detroit-born bassist and songwriter who went from the thrash band Flotsam and Jetsam and Prong to leading the Witches and anchoring the Dirtbombs.

The Detroit story
Troy Gregory grew up in Detroit and first reached a national audience in heavy music, playing bass with the thrash band Flotsam and Jetsam and with Prong, and working with Killing Joke. Back home he led the psychedelic garage band the Witches and fronted Troy Gregory & the Stepsisters, becoming a fixture of Detroit's underground. In June 2004 he took over bass in Mick Collins's Dirtbombs, part of the band's longest-running lineup. His Detroit collaborators have included Sixto Rodriguez, Andre Williams, whose Bloodshot albums he worked on, including I Wanna Go Back to Detroit City (2016), Nathaniel Mayer and Electric Six. In 2010 he wrote, directed, scored and acted in the film World War Love, and since 2018 he has made solo albums on which he plays every instrument and creates his own artwork and videos.
