The Detroit story
Detroit selected Dinwiddie in the second round of the 2014 draft after a torn ACL had cut short his college career at Colorado. He spent much of his two seasons with the Pistons shuttling between the roster and Detroit's development-league affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive, appearing in just 46 games total and making one start. His clearest moment came in the 2015–16 season finale, when he scored 12 points in a season-high 29 minutes during an overtime win over Cleveland. The Pistons let him go before the end of 2016, and he went on to establish himself as a regular NBA scorer with the Brooklyn Nets and other teams.
