The Detroit story
Rob Paulsen was born in Detroit in 1956, the son of a doctor, and grew up in Grand Blanc near Flint, graduating from Grand Blanc High School in 1974. He spent a short time at the University of Michigan–Flint, then left for Los Angeles in 1978 to try show business, against his father's wishes. There he became one of the busiest voice actors in American animation. He voiced Raphael in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and Donatello in the 2012 reboot, Yakko Warner and Pinky in Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, Carl Wheezer in Jimmy Neutron and Toodles in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, among hundreds of other roles. His Detroit connection is his birthplace; his Michigan roots are in Genesee County.
