The Detroit story
Detroit drafted Mrázek in the fifth round in 2010 and brought him up through its minor-league affiliates, first the ECHL's Toledo Walleye and then the Grand Rapids Griffins, before his NHL debut with the Red Wings in February 2013. He became Detroit's primary goaltender by the 2014–15 season and was named the team's rookie of the year after his strong first full year, then backstopped the club into the playoffs the following spring. He left as a free agent in 2016 for Carolina and moved through several more NHL organizations, but in March 2025 the Red Wings traded for him a second time, bringing him back to Detroit briefly before another trade sent him to Anaheim that summer.
