The Detroit story
Joint's Australian father and German mother settled in the Detroit area in 2004, two years before she was born in Grosse Pointe, and she spent her entire childhood there. She began hitting tennis balls at local Michigan courts as a kindergartner, using her father's squash racquet before switching to tennis full time, the start of a path that led to the WTA Tour. The family moved back to Australia only in 2025, when her father took a coaching job, by which point Joint had already built the foundations of a career that has since taken her past world No. 30 and to five WTA Tour titles.
