Detroit acquired Marvin Bagley III from Sacramento in a four-team trade at the 2022 deadline, reuniting the former No. 2 overall pick with a rebuilding Pistons roster. He made his Detroit debut on February 14, 2022, and re-signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract that July. Bagley played nearly three seasons as a forward for the Pistons before being traded to Washington in 2024 and again to Memphis during the 2025 deadline.
