The Detroit story
Martin Klebba was born and raised in Troy, the Oakland County suburb north of Detroit, and graduated from Athens High School there. He has acromicric dysplasia, a rare form of dwarfism, and stands 4 feet 1 inch tall. After moving into film and stunt work, he made his screen debut with a cameo in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes (2001). Two years later he appeared as Marty, the small but fearless member of Captain Jack Sparrow's crew, in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, a role he carried through the franchise's sequels. He has also worked as a stunt performer and appeared in comedies, fantasy films and television, including Mirror Mirror (2012).
