The Detroit story
The Pistons picked Lindsey Hunter in the first round of the 1993 draft out of Jackson State, and he spent his first stint in Detroit from 1993 until a 2000 trade to Milwaukee. Detroit reacquired him in August 2003, and Hunter became known as a tenacious on-ball defender off the bench, credited with guarding stars such as Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant and Tony Parker. A February 2004 trade briefly sent him to Boston as part of the deal that brought Rasheed Wallace to Detroit, but the Celtics released him immediately and the Pistons re-signed him a week later. Hunter and Detroit won the 2004 NBA championship and returned to the Finals in 2005, losing in seven games to San Antonio.
