The Detroit story
Jena Irene Asciutto grew up in Farmington Hills, played in the local teen band Infinity Hour from age 12 to 16 and performed at North Farmington High School's “Coffee House” talent nights. She auditioned for the thirteenth season of American Idol in 2013, graduated from North Farmington in June 2014 in the middle of the competition, and finished as runner-up, the first female wild-card contestant ever to reach the finale. Instead of moving to a major label, she signed in April 2015 with Original 1265 Recordings, an independent label in Detroit. She released the EP Innocence in 2016 and the album Cold Fame in 2017, rock-edged pop that she wrote herself.
