The Detroit story
Kramer was born in Rochester Hills, a northern suburb of Detroit in Oakland County, and also lived in Dearborn for a time after her parents divorced. She graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 2002 and moved to Los Angeles to act. She rose to fame as Alex Dupre on The CW's teen drama One Tree Hill (2009–2012), then began a country music career in 2012; her singles "Why Ya Wanna" and "I Got the Boy" reached the country top ten. She finished fourth in season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. In 2013 the independent film Approaching Midnight, in which she starred, had its world premiere at the Emagine theater in Royal Oak, and she has returned to her old high school to talk with students.
