The Detroit story
Noory grew up in Detroit, the son of an Egyptian father who worked for Ford Motor Company and a Lebanese American mother. He began his broadcasting career as a newscaster at Detroit's WCAR radio and from 1974 to 1978 was a news producer and executive news producer at WJBK-TV, Channel 2. He then became a TV news director in Minneapolis and St. Louis, and in St. Louis created the late-night radio show Nighthawk. In 2003 he succeeded Art Bell as weekday host of Coast to Coast AM, the syndicated overnight program about the paranormal, UFOs and conspiracy theories, heard on hundreds of stations in the United States and Canada. He has also appeared on the History Channel's Ancient Aliens.
