The Detroit story
Eugene Cordero was born in 1978 and grew up in the northern suburbs of Detroit, where he graduated from Brother Rice High School, a Catholic boys' school in Bloomfield Township, in 1996. One of his classmates there was the comedian Andy Juett, with whom he later made comedy as part of the Sexpot Comedy group. He moved to New York to study at Marymount Manhattan College and then built a career in improv and television comedy in Los Angeles. He has been a familiar face in ensembles: Pillboi on The Good Place, a series regular on Tacoma FD and Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, and the voice of the cheerful engineer Sam Rutherford on Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020–2024). Outside comedy he played Casey, the good-natured Time Variance Authority clerk, on Marvel's Loki (2021–2023). His Detroit story is a suburban Catholic-school upbringing in Oakland County.
