The Detroit story
Drew Abbott came up in Detroit's late-1960s hard-rock scene as guitarist of the power trio Third Power. In 1974 he joined Bob Seger, and for nearly a decade his lead guitar was a core part of the Silver Bullet Band sound. He plays on Seven (1974), Beautiful Loser (1975) and the double album Live Bullet, recorded at Detroit's Cobo Hall in 1975, as well as the breakthrough records Night Moves, Stranger in Town, Against the Wind, Nine Tonight and The Distance. He left in 1983, unhappy with Seger's growing use of studio musicians, and moved to Traverse City, where he formed the band Burning Circle. He later played with the Michigan band Leo Creek.

The Silver Bullet Band recorded Live Bullet here in September 1975. The arena closed in 2010 and was turned into a ballroom of today's Huntington Place.
