The Detroit story
David Ramsey was born in Detroit in 1971 and grew up in the city. He attended Mumford High School on Wyoming Avenue, the northwest Detroit school famous to movie fans from Eddie Murphy's Mumford Phys. Ed. Dept. T-shirt in Beverly Hills Cop. He then studied at Wayne State University's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and headed to Los Angeles. After years of guest roles he became a regular face on cable as Anton Briggs, the confidential informant in Dexter (2008–2009). His defining role arrived in 2012 as John Diggle, the bodyguard-turned-partner of the Green Arrow in The CW's Arrow, a part he carried across The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman for a decade. He has since moved behind the camera, directing episodes of several series.
