The Detroit story
By the time Davis signed with Detroit as a free agent in August 2005, he was already a veteran of well over a decade in the league, best known for his rebounding and defensive presence with the Indiana Pacers. He spent his final two NBA seasons with the Pistons, adding size and experience to the frontcourt as the team continued to compete in the Eastern Conference, before retiring after the 2006–07 season. Though he never had a signature moment in Detroit, his stint capped a long, respected career built on rebounding rather than scoring.
