01 / The Detroit story
The Detroit story
Robinson came to Detroit in a June 2001 trade after eight seasons as a Portland Trail Blazers mainstay, where he had already won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award and made an All-Star team. In Detroit he brought experience and scoring versatility to a Pistons roster rebuilding under new leadership at the Palace of Auburn Hills, playing two seasons before moving on to Golden State and New Jersey. His long NBA career, capped by a reputation for durability and outside shooting from a forward, included a Detroit chapter that came in its later stages rather than at its peak.
