The Detroit story
Born in Detroit and trained at a Michigan wrestling school, Sabin began his career in 2000 working for Detroit promoter Scott D'Amore's Border City Wrestling and other independent shows around the state. He rose through TNA Wrestling's X Division to become one of its most decorated champions, and in 2007 he teamed with fellow Michigan wrestler Alex Shelley to form the Motor City Machine Guns, a tag team whose very name is a nod to Detroit's industrial nickname. The duo became one of the most acclaimed tag teams in modern wrestling, working for promotions worldwide, and in 2026 they made a homecoming appearance on AEW television taped in their native Detroit.
