The Detroit story
Chris Douglas-Roberts grew up in Detroit and played high school basketball at Cass Technical High School and Northwestern High School, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as a senior at Cass Tech in 2003–04. He went on to the University of Memphis, where he became the Tigers' leading scorer and an All-Conference USA first-team selection. In his junior season he averaged 23.3 points over six NCAA tournament games as Memphis reached the 2008 national championship game, losing to Kansas in overtime. Douglas-Roberts was not drafted into a lasting NBA career but built a long, well-traveled professional career overseas.
