The Detroit story
Rosenberger was born in Detroit and studied in the United States with Webster Aitken and Katja Andy, in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and in Vienna with the harpsichordist Eta Harich-Schneider and the theorist Franz Eibner. At the very start of her career she was struck by paralytic polio, which damaged the muscles a pianist needs most, and her official debut was delayed by ten years. She spent part of that time in Vienna studying Baroque style and German song and opera while she rebuilt her technique. She went on to record more than thirty albums for Delos Productions, and in 1976 the President's National Commission on the Observance of International Women's Year chose her to represent America's women concert artists. She taught at the University of Southern California and California State University, Northridge, where her workshop Preparation for Performance drew on her own rehabilitation, and in 2018 she published the memoir To Play Again.
