The Detroit story
Born Patrick Martin in Detroit in 1983, Shelley broke into professional wrestling on the independent circuit before finding stardom in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where he became a Triple Crown winner as a world champion, X Division champion and multiple-time tag champion. His signature act was teaming with fellow Detroiter Chris Sabin as the Motor City Machine Guns, a name chosen specifically because both men hailed from Detroit. The duo also won championships in Ring of Honor and in Japan's New Japan Pro-Wrestling before a run in WWE from 2024 to 2026. In July 2026 they returned to All Elite Wrestling in a show held in their hometown of Detroit.
