Gene Dunlap

Gene Dunlap started drumming at age four and refined his craft at Detroit Mumford High School. He teamed up early on with guitarist Earl Klugh, forming the Earl Klugh Trio, and later recorded three solo albums on Capitol Records. Dunlap's collaborations include legends like George Benson and Marcus Miller. His music combines late-night groove, contemporary jazz, and smooth R&B, balancing fun and artistry. At Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, he performed using Gretsch drums and Bosphorus cymbals, delivering a distinctive rhythmic experience on April 18, 2026.
