Michael Zaporski

Michael Zaporski's music mixes American jazz with West African rhythmic dialogues. As pianist for the late Detroit saxophonist Sam Sanders and through U.S. State Department efforts, he both performed and taught jazz in West Africa. He's played alongside legends like Jackie McLean and Art Blakey, and leads his own group, FutureVisions, which has performed at jazz festivals and released acclaimed recordings. His concert in Grosse Pointe Farms offered a rich blend of rhythms and haunting melodies.
