Mason Bays Jazz Quintet

Born in Pontiac in 1992 and raised in Lake Orion, Mason Bays was diagnosed with autism early on and began playing trumpet in third grade. He discovered jazz in high school and later studied music at Oakland University. At Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, he led his own jazz/funk quintet playing unique arrangements of classic artists like Lee Morgan and Stevie Wonder, as well as his own pieces. The group includes alto and soprano saxophone, guitar, piano/electronic keys, bass, percussion, and drums.
