Max Bowen

Max Bowen hails from Ann Arbor, where he grew up and was part of the award-winning jazz program at Community High School. He earned a BA in Philosophy from Lawrence University, then performed in Milwaukee with the WAMI-nominated Match Stick, hip-hop collective Ruby Yacht, and his own trio. In 2017, Max opened for Future Islands on their North American tour with Ruby Yacht. Returning to Ann Arbor that fall, he completed a Master of Music at the University of Michigan studying under Miles Okazaki. Since settling back in Michigan, Max has performed and recorded with notable local artists and teaches guitar with a focus on music theory and improvisation.
