Tumbao Bravo Latin Jazz Live at Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe

Formed in Ann Arbor in 2004, Tumbao Bravo blends Cuban rhythms like mambo, cha cha, rumba, and bolero with rich original jazz harmonies. Led by saxophonist, flutist, percussionist, and composer Paul Vornhagen, the band includes trumpet, congas, timbales, keyboard, and electric bass. These top-tier musicians delivered tight, fiery arrangements of their own material packed with melodic songs and sizzling solos. Their five PKO Records albums have been featured on major NPR latin jazz programs and film soundtracks. They’ve performed in jazz clubs and festivals across Michigan, Toledo, Chicago, and San Francisco. Latin Jazz Corner praised them for their strong roots in tradition, colorful repertoire, and grooves full of comfort and fire.
