Alex Puz’s painting centers on color study, optics, and linear abstraction—systematizing color and line into dense, ornate chromatic fields. Based in Baltimore, he’ll talk about how emotion and cognition meet in a process-oriented studio practice.

Puz is a 2017 Rema Hort Mann Foundation Nominee and a 2022 YPEI Teaching Fellowship recipient. He has taught at Maryland Institute College of Art and the University of New Haven, was a Cohort 05 Studio Fellow in Titus Kaphar’s NXTHVN, and took part in the 2025 Interdisciplinary Art and Theory Program in New York. His work has been covered by Vogue Magazine, The Yale Daily News, liveart.io, and New American Paintings, and is held by the U.S. Department of State, JP Morgan Chase, and Yale Health. Selected exhibitions include The Ford Foundation, Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, and MoCA CT.
