Patterson Hood
Patterson Hood, co-founder and frontman of Drive-By Truckers, plays The Ark in Ann Arbor on Tuesday, December 8, 2026, at 8 p.m. Expect narrative-rich Americana and Southern rock and songs from his widely praised solo album Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams.
Raised in Muscle Shoals, Hood blends rock, country, and soul with sharp storytelling—hallmarks of Drive-By Truckers and his solo work alike. His latest solo record, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams, produced by Chris Funk (The Decemberists) and released on ATO in February 2025, drew rave notices: 9/10 from Uncut, 8/10 from Mojo, called his “most adventurous and surprising, and his best” by Pitchfork, and praised by Forbes as one of his most focused studio efforts.
