One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show
Wayne State University Theatre and Dance stages this comedy on Wednesday, October 7, at 2 p.m. at the Hilberry Gateway in Detroit. Suburban Philly, Black elite, and family/romantic chaos—sharp, fast, funny. Tickets available online.
Set in suburban Philadelphia, Reverend Avery Harrison clings to status while his wife Myra’s slip-ups give the game away. Their son Felix dives into sex ed with Li’l Bits, and country cousin Beverly arrives with ties to the slick, fast-living Caleb Johnson—then quietly turns the tables. It’s a brisk family comedy of desire, class, and scheming.
Presented by Wayne State University Theatre and Dance at the Hilberry Gateway, by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. If you’re into quick-fire dialogue and character-driven laughs, this afternoon show delivers. Tickets available online.
