Donald Harrison Quartet
New Orleans saxophonist Donald Harrison—recipient of the 2022 NEA Jazz Master award—plays with his quartet on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 8 p.m. at Aretha's Jazz Café at Music Hall in Detroit. Come for his trailblazing Nouveau Swing and deep New Orleans roots. Tickets available through the venue.
Donald Harrison is a modern jazz innovator: he brought New Orleans second-line into contemporary jazz, created Nouveau Swing, and was named an NEA Jazz Master in 2022. You may have seen him on HBO’s Treme; his résumé spans collaborations from Roy Haynes and Art Blakey to Miles Davis and The Notorious B.I.G.
In Detroit he leads a sharp quartet: Dan Kaufman on piano, Nori Naraoka on bass, and Rehaan Rouege on drums. Expect groove, swing, and Harrison’s unmistakable tone up close.
Tickets are available through the venue.
