Seven private escape games in downtown Royal Oak, where your game host shows up in costume as a character from your theme. There's a 15-player zombie survival game and a room set right here in Royal Oak.

Private escape rooms in Warren built for big groups: three games, including a head-to-head circus battle for up to 24 players, with a costumed game host. Great for birthdays and team outings.

The makers of Pontiac's Erebus Haunted Attraction also build escape rooms, but on purpose they're not scary: the motto is “fun without fear.” Three rooms for grown-ups plus two beginner family rooms for kids 4–14.

Livingston County's escape room, just outside downtown Brighton and sister to Escape Room Novi: five private 60-minute rooms for 2–8 players plus a two-minute zombie mini game. Family-friendly and fully ADA accessible.
$32 per person. There's a party room with pizza and pop for birthdays, and groups of up to 40 can be split across rooms.
Classic escape rooms / Novi
An independent Novi escape room since 2016, with eight private 60-minute rooms from the kid-friendly Candy Factory to The Gate, rated 5 out of 5 for difficulty. Hints are unlimited, and the Odditorium and Hubert the talking plant say goodbye in early October.
$35 per person for 60-minute rooms; mini games are $10 per person. Minimum two players Monday–Friday and four on Saturday and Sunday.
Classic escape rooms / Canton
Four private 60-minute escape rooms booked through the Zap Zone family fun center on Ford Road in Canton: pirates, witches, a steampunk casino heist and a Greek myth, all at $30 a head.
$30 per person for all four rooms. Tuesday special: $25 for basic escapes. The Escape Room Party is $349.99 for up to eight players, plus $30 for each extra player.

Eight private escape rooms on Grand River Avenue in Farmington, right next to Zap Zone: from a beginner space fix-up to a 6–12 player Alcatraz breakout, at $30 a head. Rage rooms are sold at the same address.

Classic escape rooms / Mount Clemens
Escapology, which bills itself as the world's largest escape room chain, in downtown Mount Clemens: six private 60-minute games, including licensed Scooby-Doo and Agatha Christie rooms. Rooms are never locked and hints are unlimited.

Classic escape rooms / Ferndale
A locally owned Ferndale escape room built on Detroit and Michigan stories: step into a trap built for Houdini in 1926, raid a Purple Gang stash house, and never worry about jump scares.
Classic escape rooms / Novi
A Novi escape room that swaps padlocks and printed clue sheets for custom-built electronics and effects. Right now it's running Starship: Final Voyage, a 60-minute sci-fi mission for 4–10 players where you pick the difficulty when you arrive.
Price depends on group size and shows up in the booking system. Party table setup is $50 for groups under eight, free for eight or more.

The Detroit-area branch of The Great Escape Room, a national chain from Orlando to Boston, sits in downtown Royal Oak with four 60-minute rooms: a midnight heist, poker in the President's bunker, emergency heart surgery and Sherlock Holmes.

Port Huron's home-grown escape room company, now inside Foundry, a downtown arts and events venue minutes from the Blue Water Bridge. Four custom-built rooms, from a family-friendly chocolate heist to a retro-futuristic smart home gone rogue.

A family-run escape studio on Packard Road in Ann Arbor: three rooms plus a game you play from your own car. USA Today 10Best named it one of the three best escape rooms in the country in 2023.

Decode's downtown Ypsilanti location, where every game lives in the world of the Aurora Society, a secret magical society based right here in Ypsilanti. The Aurora Society room is a Golden Lock award winner.

Escape rooms on Frankenmuth's Main Street, wrapped in the legend of a German mountain spirit: an art-gallery heist, a pirate brig and a 1925 speakeasy. We couldn't confirm it's still running in 2026, so call before you go.
Per-ticket prices are in the booking system; to keep a room private, buy every ticket for its capacity. Weekday private corporate parties: $450 minimum covering at least 15 people, then $30 per extra player.

A Flint-area entertainment center in Burton: four private, homegrown escape rooms plus axe throwing, super-sized darts and a game lounge with drinks. Up to 24 people can be escaping at once.

An independent Ann Arbor escape room founded in 2016 by Larry and Kimberly Edwards and built for players of all ages. Unlimited clues, always-private games, and real sand on the floor of Castaway Island.

Classic escape rooms / Midland
Midland's own escape and puzzle rooms on North Saginaw Road: five private, hour-long rooms, every one of them $20 a person. That makes it one of the cheapest escape games you'll find in Michigan.

Classic escape rooms / Lansing
Escapology's Lansing rooms, tucked inside the Spare Time entertainment center: private hour-long games with unlimited hints. One of them even puts you on a train to Budapest.
Classic escape rooms / Davison
One of mid-Michigan's biggest escape-room venues, in Davison since 2015: around ten themed rooms, from Mission Impossibly, playable with just two, to multi-level games for up to 15. Dreadlands, a haunted escape circuit, is on deck for October.
$32 per player; $30 for larger groups (7+ in most rooms) and $28 for the biggest groups in CheckMate, The Dwelling and Final Breath; Jurassic Laboratory has a $96 minimum (3 players).
Classic escape rooms / Sparta
In Sparta, about 15 miles north of Grand Rapids, the creators of the Abandoned Acres Farm haunted attraction built six Hollywood-style escape rooms. Hidden doorways, CGI effects, sound and lighting, from a family-friendly mine to a dinosaur island.
$35 per player, minimum charge of 3 players.
Classic escape rooms / Hart
A small, appointment-only escape room in Hart, between Muskegon and Ludington. Three search-heavy rooms, and the owners say only about 20% of teams get out in time.
$25 per person ages 12 and up; $10 per child ages 5–11; 4 and under free; $100 room minimum.
Classic escape rooms / Grand Rapids
Entrap Escape Rooms' Grand Rapids branch on East Paris Avenue near Woodland Mall: four private rooms, including a horror thriller and Dracula's lair. It's set up for team building too, with room for up to 32 players at once.
$35 per person, same price for every seat; kids 7 and under free with a paying adult.
Classic escape rooms / Portage
Kalamazoo County's first escape room, open since May 2016 on Portage Road next to Airway Fun Center. Ten private games, including licensed Batman and Scooby-Doo rooms, and four have a Kids Mode for ages 7–14.
Classic escape rooms / Grand Haven
A locally owned escape room on Jackson Street in Grand Haven: fully lit rooms, zero scares, and you can always open the door. An alien-infested starship and a barbershop murder mystery are running now, private from two players up.
2 people: $35 per person; 3 people: $30; 4–8 people: $25; 16 or more: $23 (call to book private events of 16 or more).
Classic escape rooms / Grand Rapids
The Great Escape Room's downtown Grand Rapids branch, on the second floor of the Masonic Center: seven 60-minute rooms, from a Houdini-themed haunted hotel to a 12-player presidential bunker, and every booking is private.
Classic escape rooms / Muskegon
Muskegon's independent escape room in the Airport Plaza: four original themed rooms, 18–20 puzzles apiece, and every game is private. Kids' birthday parties even get unlimited clues.

A family-owned escape room in downtown Whitehall's original 1922 Masonic Temple, styled after the early 1900s throughout. Three 60-minute games, including a two-car train where two teams can go head-to-head.

An independent downtown Grand Rapids escape room company: three indoor rooms, head-to-head races for up to 16 and an outdoor city puzzle hunt. We couldn't confirm it's still running in 2026, so call or check their site before you go.

An independent escape room venue on M-139 in St. Joseph: five private 60-minute games, from a forgotten cemetery full of zombies to a tornado, and even solo players can book. Bigfoot! starts in total darkness.

Classic escape rooms / Norton Shores
Norton Shores' 90-minute escape room: in No Vacancy you dig up the dark secrets of a storm-bound motel with up to eight players. Appointment only.
$40 per person. Group discounts: $10 off for 4 players, $25 off for 5, $40 off for 6.
Classic escape rooms / Grawn
Escapology's three private 60-minute rooms sit inside Incredible Mo's in Grawn, just south of Traverse City. Bowling, an arcade, laser tag and a pizzeria share the building, so the night doesn't have to end when the clock hits zero.
Classic escape rooms / Petoskey
One of northern Michigan's first escape rooms, a woman-owned local business on US-131 in south Petoskey. Four private rooms with a dragon, a rotting circus and the Bermuda Triangle, plus outdoor clue hunts through downtown.
Adults: 2 players $35 each, 3–4 players $32 each, 5 or more players $30 each. Students, seniors and military: $30 / $28 / $26. All rooms are private.
Classic escape rooms / Traverse City
A small escape room on Garland Street in downtown Traverse City, formerly Alecatraz Escape Rooms. Right now you sneak into the suspicious warden's office at Alcatraz, and you pay per room, not per head.
$75 base reserves a private room for up to 3 players, plus $25 for each additional player.
Classic escape rooms / Gaylord
A family jailbreak game east of Gaylord on Big Lake Road, where the Jailbreak Escape Game locks you up for silly crimes. We couldn't confirm it's taking groups in 2026, so call or text before you head out.
$25 per person; no discounts; all sales final.
Classic escape rooms / Mackinaw City
Mackinaw City's escape rooms, a few blocks from the Mackinac Island ferry docks, with local stories: a shipwreck dive in the Straits and a 1930s bank job. Short on time? A 20-minute mini room fits between sightseeing stops.
60-minute rooms: $25 per adult, $20 per kid (14 and under). Time Traveler (20 minutes): $10 per person. Hot Seat two-minute challenge: $5 a round or $10 for three rounds.
Classic escape rooms / Grayling
Grayling escape rooms on the I-75 business loop, open for bookings daily noon–9 p.m.: a runaway train, a Wild West saloon with cursed gold and a tiny witch's hut. There's a rage room too, and proceeds from Owen's Gold Shelf help families fighting childhood cancer.
The Runaway Train and River's Edge Saloon: $100 base for up to 4 players, plus $25 per additional player (as of January 1, 2026). Leslee's Witch's Hut: $25 per player, up to four.
Classic escape rooms / Marquette
A locally owned escape room in downtown Marquette, on the lower level of the Masonic Square Mall since 2025. The Upper Peninsula-themed Yooper Mineshaft takes you deep into a cursed mine, and you pick how much help you want.
$35 per player for the 4-player package; groups of 2–3 can book the 4-player package at 10% off, and larger groups get a lower per-person rate. Non-refundable $30 deposit at booking.

06 / First time?
Most places are booking-only, and weekend evenings fill up fast. The booking calendar shows which room is free when.
Some places may team you up with strangers unless you book the whole room. If you only want your own crew, look for a private booking.
Most places run a short briefing first and ask you to sign a waiver. Arrive late and it usually comes out of your game time.
The game master is watching and will give you a hint when you’re stuck. It doesn’t make the win smaller, just the mood better.
Age limits differ by venue and by room. We list what each venue publishes, but double-check on their own site before you go.
